Entertainment as cute as a bird and as frightening as death-defying stunts will be spread across the New York State Fair this year, state Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine announced today.
The entertainers who perform throughout the Fairgrounds are an integral part of the enjoyment of the fair, Aubertine said.
“These performers bring a sense of adventure to the fair," he said. "They bring a sense that, at any minute, something wild and fun could happen. The thrills and laughs they provide are yet one more reason why I encourage every New Yorker to come to their New York State Fair.”
There are several new grounds entertainers this year. Among them:
- Hypnotist Marshall Manlove, a certified hypnotherapist, whose comic performance takes volunteers on a skillfully planned journey through their minds. He performs every day at 5 p.m. and at Noon on Wednesday, August 28, Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1 on the Regional Artists Variety Stage;
- Mutts Gone Nuts, which finds a pack of pooches trying to outwit their handlers. The show blends a circus comedy dog act with a canine thrill show, while spreading the message of animal rescue. The troupe performs at 11 a.m., 2:45 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. in the Youth Activity Center;
- Team Turbo Dunk, gymnasts who perform for NBA dunk teams and who will amaze Fairgoers with their twists and flips as they soar towards the rim for a satisfying dunk. The group performs three times daily at the Sports Activity Center;
- The Eudora Farms Petting Zoo, sponsored by Coca-Cola, which is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fairgoers can pet animals such as Little Joe the wallaby and take a ride on Bubba the camel. They can feed small parrots called Lorikeets. And at 2:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. daily, staff from Eudora Farms will conduct an educational discussion about their animals. The exhibit is free, though there’s a charge to get food to feed the birds;
- The Nerveless Nocks thrill show, sponsored by Toyota, featuring aerial stunts on motorbikes at 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. daily in the Adventure Zone. The Nocks balance a bike on a trapeze and zoom three bikes around the inside of a metal globe, among other stunts;
- Cricket and Dragonfly, two new majestic stilt walkers who roam Chevy Court, and;
- The Biggest Kid In The World, who shrinks and then grows again. You have to see this for yourself, and if you watched the Grammy Awards with Taylor Swift, you did!
Schedules for all grounds performers are in the daily Insider’s Guide, available for free as you enter the Fair. Advance sale tickets that save 40 percent off the cost of admission are available statewide.
