Schumer Pushes for Feds to Partner with Cornell for Dairy and Food Safety Research

U.S. Sen Charles Schumer on Tuesday visited Cornell University to push the feds to increase research into dairy and food safety.

Schumer toured Stocking Hall, Cornell's new dairy processing research and training plant, while urging the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration to partner with Cornell on a national level to boost research and training programs for dairy safety and quality.

He also wants the feds to find new grant and funding opportunities to support the work done at Cornell in dairy and food safety and research.

Schumer said Cornell’s dairy program already has a national reputation, and having just completed a new state-of-the-art dairy processing plant designed for research and training, stands to be an industry leader in dairy safety research.
