Animals Used for Meat Don't Have Antibiotics in Them

Read this story from Food Insight to see that it is all marketing hype when a company comes out stating "we are no longer going to use animals treated with antibiotics" at our restaurants or stores.

Blog Entry Blasts Chipotle and its Feelings about Agriculture

Another story about Chipotle and http://www.truthabouttrade.org/2014/02/13/chipotle-unnecessarily-tears-down-agriculture-to-build-a-brand/ the way it takes on agriculture in its ads.

This issue first came to light when farm blogger Dairy Carrie in Wisconsin blasted the chain. Check out previous posts on this blog about Dairy Carrie and her take on Chipotle.

Farmers Take on Chipotle Restaruants for New Ad

OK, now another restaurant company is taking it on the chin for one of its ads.

Chipotle has put out an ad and a mobile game that can be played on iPads and iPhones that seems to take on factory farms and farms in general. Go to http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/12/chipotle-scarecrow_n_3914281.html to see a story about the campaign and watch the ad for the mobile game.

Farmers are taking issue with this on blogs, stating the video -- which is all animation -- doesn't show how farmers really treat their animals. In fact, some say Chipotle had to use animation because they couldn't find real farms putting their cows in metal cages or injecting chickens with chemicals.

Here http://agricultureproud.com/2013/09/12/chipotle-takes-on-big-food-with-animated-scarecrow/ is what the Agriculture Proud blog is saying about the issue. Dairy Carrie, a long-time blogger who recently was embroiled in the Panera restaurant ad controversy, http://dairycarrie.com/2013/09/16/chipotle/ posted this about Chipotle.

But then there are those who defend the ad, even calling it brilliant. Go to http://theweek.com/article/index/249656/interview-the-brilliant-minds-behind-chipotles-haunting-scarecrow-ad or check out http://www.treehugger.com/corporate-responsibility/chipotles-scarecrow-ad-brilliant.html

Interesting stuff to check out. Is the ad brilliant or offensive? Are some farmers going to far with their criticism or are they right on the mark?
