Spring Dairy Carousel Begins at New York State Fairgrounds
The Spring Dairy Carousel 2013 begins at the New York State Fairgrounds today.
Cattle moved into the fairgrounds Thursday and judging begins today.
Here is the schedule:
Friday, April 12: 11 a.m., Junior Showmanship; 2 p.m. Junior Judging Contest and Purebred Dairy Cattle Association Judging Contest; 6 p.m., Protein Breeds Sale
Saturday, April 13: 9 a.m., New York Junior Holstein Show; 1 p.m. Ayrshire Show and Guernsey Show
Sunday, April 14: 8 a.m., Red and White Show and Milking Shorthorn Show; noon, Jersey Show and Brown Swiss Show
Monday, April 15: 8 a.m., International Spring Holstein Show.
Judges are: Michael Heath, open Holstein, Milking Shorthorn; Steve Wagner, New York Junior Holstein, Brown Swiss; Jamie Black, Red and White and Ayrshire; and Adam Liddle, Jersey and Guernsey.
Nearly 1,000 dairy animals representing all seven of the major dairy breeds have come to the Exhibit Center and the Toyota Coliseum for this show, which is considered one of largest and most highly regarded spring dairy cattle events in North America.
Shows, sales and junior activities fill all three days. Food and beverages are available and the event is open to the public.
